Library Services

The SJK Library provides service to all students at the School. Students are encouraged to access library resources to complete assignments. The SJK library is open before and after school allowing students to use library services outside of class time and to receive individualised help with research and reading needs. The librarian also provides instruction for the development of strong research skills. The library houses 9,000 titles.  The development of the collection is on-going with approximately 350 new titles added each year.

The non-fiction resources have been carefully selected to meet the curriculum and general interest needs of SJK students. The library also has a fine reference collection for in-library use. The library's fiction collection contains books for all grade levels. Picture books, adventure, mystery, science fiction, fantasy, historical fiction, short stories, humour, animal stories, classics, and ghost stories - the library's collection is extensive. Our fiction promotes literacy and provides the great escape into the world of books!

In addition to print resources, the library subscribes to several on-line reference databases that students access from the computers at school and remotely from home through the school's web page.  These databases provide a wealth of information for research in the humanities, social sciences, science and technology.

The goal of the SJK library is to provide a superior level of service to the students by working with them individually and in groups and by collaborating with classroom teachers to plan the use of library resources to enrich the curriculum.
