St. John’s–Kilmarnock School (SJK) is the leading co-educational independent school in the Waterloo and surrounding region. Established in 1972, the School is located on a beautiful 36-acre natural campus. We offer enriched educational programming for students from JK – Grade 12 through the accredited International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum. At SJK, students find their excellence within, love to learn, and graduate as confident, well-rounded individuals, fully prepared for post-secondary education and life beyond.
The SJK Teaching Innovation Program (SJK TIP) serves to develop promising, emerging educators as part of a small, early-career group of recent graduates from Faculties of Education. We seek up to 8 recent graduates to teach, engage in our varied and extensive co-curricular offerings, and provide coverage and extended release time for colleagues engaged in our progressive and generative Faculty Growth and Fellowship Programs. The positions, available for the 2017/18 academic year, will provide support in key academic areas. There is the possibility of renewal into the subsequent academic year.
The SJK Teaching Innovation Program has as its founding belief that Inspired Teachers Inspire Students. The Teaching Innovation Program allows SJK to identify, attract and develop outstanding educators early in their careers, and to provide valuable teaching experience in a school that is committed to innovation in teaching and learning in the Waterloo Region, one of the world’s most sought-after areas. We seek outstanding emerging educators with compelling life experiences, great interpersonal acuity who find reward and satisfaction in understanding and developing the positive attributes and skills of others.
These positions are available across the International Baccalaureate Continuum (Primary Years, Middle Years and Diploma Programs). The PYP positions will be associated with specific grades, classes and teachers in the Lower School. The MYP and DP positions will be associated with a specific department in the Upper School. Members will report to and work closely with our Director of Teaching and Learning. Applicants must be in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers.
