Applicants must be passionate teachers with a degree or advanced degree in a related field, teaching certification and experience (with eligibility for the Ontario College of Teachers). A willingness to participate in the full life of the School and its extensive co-curricular program is essential. International Baccalaureate (IB) experience, training and international-mindedness are considered significant assets. SJK offers a competitive salary and benefits package, including participation in the Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan. Eligibility to work in Canada is required.

SJK is seeking the following Full-Time teaching positions for the 2017-18 academic year with orientation in late August 2017.


Humanities Teacher (Business and Economics)

(International Baccalaureate, Middle Years and Diploma Progammes)

The School is seeking an outstanding and highly committed Humanities Teacher, with the ability to offer more than one subject, ideally Business and Economics at the DP level. The successful candidate will be a skilled and passionate teacher who appreciates working in a collaborative environment, dedicated to the highest standards of teaching and learning. Experience and training in the International Baccalaureate Middle Years and Diploma Programmes considered an asset. Candidates should also have experience using technology in the classroom and be willing to coach and sponsor co-curricular activities.

Lower School Classroom Teacher – PYP

(International Baccalaureate Primary Years Progamme) Primary/Junior Division

The School is seeking a highly motivated and committed educator to join our Lower School Faculty; the successful candidate will be an enthusiastic and innovative teacher who appreciates working in a collaborative environment, dedicated to the highest standards of teaching and learning. Experience and training in the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme is considered an asset. Physical Education Teacher – PYP and MYP

(International Baccalaureate, Primary and Middle Years Programmes)

Full-Time Maintenance

We are currently looking for an individual who has general maintenance experience who can complete preventative maintenance and general maintenance and repairs. The individual will work as part of a team and will report to the Facilities Manager. Individual must be willing to work varied hours and some weekends. Must be flexible.

Hourly wage rate: To be determined

Primary Responsibilities would include:

  • Provide handyman duties in areas such as painting, minor drywall repair and minor carpentry
  • Repairing, modifying and installing new or existing structures
  • Assembling fixtures as required
  • Some day porter duties as required
  • Snow clearing outside of doors and main walkways during winter months
  • Lawn care and grounds maintenance during summer months

Minimum Requirements:

  • Grade 12 Secondary School Graduation Diploma
  • Minimum Five years experience in plant and general maintenance; familiar with maintenance procedures, repairs, building, heating and ventilation
  • Knowledge of basic use of hand tools
  • Minor knowledge in electrical and plumbing repairs
  • Position requires a valid driver’s licence
  • Possess computer skills in e-mail and internet
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Canadian International School of Kunshan (CISK)

School Principal

The Canadian International School is fully accredited by the Jiangsu Department of Education, and is situated in the city of Kunshan, in the People’s Republic of China, and has easy access by highway and hi-speed rail, to Suzhou and Shanghai.

As a recently accredited International Baccalaureate World School, authorized to offer the IB Diploma Programme, beginning the school year 2017-2018, CISK is searching for an outstanding innovative leader, a skilled and experienced professional able and willing to learn to adapt and engage with new cultures, and who is prepared to assume the challenging role of school principal as the school moves to the next phase of our journey, in which the school anticipates high growth over the next few years.

As of September 2017, CISK will be offering a complete and comprehensive program, taught in English, for children ranging from preschool to Grade 12, and curriculum based on the Ontario Education Model, along with supporting programs in ESL and Mandarin.

Description of Position

The school is seeking a School Principal, who will be responsible to help market and grow our current school population, raising school standards to the highest level of academic excellence, and will be expected to successfully deliver on the vision and strategy set forth and mandated by the Board of Directors.

The board’s official connection to the school level management and operational organization, its achievements and conduct will be through the school’s executive officer, titled School Principal. The School Principal is the board’s only link to operational achievement and conduct, so that all authority and accountability of staff, as far as the board is concerned, is considered the authority of and the accountability of the School Principal.

Additional Responsibilities

In addition to providing strong leadership and being responsible for the day to day management and operations of the school, as well as the provision of curriculum guidance and its implementation to ensure high quality education, planning, supervising, operating, and conducting performance appraisals of staff; the duties and responsibilities as Principal will also include:

  • Supporting and promoting the school's mission and philosophy;
  • Ensuring a safe, respectful, and positive learning and teaching environment;
  • Representing and promoting the school in a positive manner to all members of the school and wider community;
  • Proactively communicating with parents and inspiring parental support for the school;
  • Supervising and monitoring the admissions process and transition of students into and out of the school;
  • Monitoring student achievement and performance through class observations, individual interviews, school-based and external assessments;
  • Ensuring that an accurate and timely reporting system of student progress is in place and implemented;
  • Assisting in recruiting teachers and providing orientation for new staff to the school and outside community;
  • Monitoring and maintaining compliance with any and all accreditation requirements;
  • Monitoring and developing strategies to increase student enrolment to ensure that the school achieves its targeted enrolment projections;
  • Implementing growth strategy and development plan that ensures attraction, recruitment and retention of students in line with the annual budget.

Applicants should meet the following requirements:

  • Basic undergraduate and graduate degrees and academic certification;
  • Proven track record and experience as a school principal;
  • IB Accreditation, a desirable asset;
  • Experience in overseas schools, a definite asset;
  • Knowledge of the philosophy and tenets of the International Baccalaureate; and although not a basic requirement, familiarity with Ontario Education would be an asset.
