SJK strives to go beyond in all aspects – from programming to amenities! Read more below or visit our FAQs to learn more.
Creating healthy food is just as important as creating delicious food at SJK.
Our Food Services Program features meals prepared by a Red Seal Certified Chef. Nutritionists work with our Chef to create menus that ensure we provide both delicious and healthy meals for all students. Our food services provider, Dana Hospitality, sources from local Canadian producers, greenhouse growers, and dedicated farmers who meet their high standards. Attention is given to preserving the nutrition inherent in authentic ingredients through cooking methods and sourcing practices. Because it matters to SJK families, Dana has committed to source and identify GMO, hormone and nitrate free ingredients as a first choice for menu selections.
Our seasonal produce, chicken, pork, dairy, cheese and butter all come from Ontario! Our beef is 100% Canadian. We offer a daily “seasonal” plate which features ingredients entirely sourced from Ontario.
Feel free to browse our Daily Custom Menu to see what SJK is serving today!
Our food services program includes a healthy morning snack each day, and a nutritious hot lunch, which consists of three entrée options and a variety of side dishes including salads, sandwiches, soups, fruit and a small dessert.
Please note that the food services program is included in tuition for all Kindergarten students. The cost for students in Grade 1–12 can be found in the table below, with registration for this program opening in the summer. For more information, please contact Britt Leeking, Director of Enrolment, at email@example.com.
Extended-Hours Child Care
SJK offers before- and after-school child care that is covered by tuition payments to families whose children are in Grades JK – 6. Families must register for this service. Before-school care begins at 7:30 a.m., and after-school care is available until 5:30 p.m. The after-school program, known as Outdoor Experiential Education, focuses on outdoor play and learning when the weather allows. In inclement weather, students will play games, do crafts and engage in other quiet activities indoors.
SJK offers bus transportation, through our partner Sharp Bus Lines, to students residing in the Kitchener/Waterloo, Guelph, Erin and Cambridge areas. The bus routes are determined based on the needs of registered families. Please note that registration is required for this program (prior to July) and there is an additional cost for bus transportation.
Families can choose full time (twice daily), part time (once daily, morning OR after school) or occasional busing (as needed).
The bus picks students up starting at 7:00 a.m., and arrives at SJK by 8:15 a.m. The bus makes every effort to pick students up at their door, especially students in JK to Grade 2, but often the stop will be within a short walking distance from home. The bus will depart at 3:30 p.m. and take students to their designated stop.
For students in Grades 6-12 who are registered bus riders, a “late bus” is available, departing at 5:15 p.m. Students register for this bus on a daily basis, as needed. Please note that this bus is not available on Fridays – if a student needs to stay after school on Friday for an event or activity, parents must arrange for transportation. The late bus drops off at centralized stops only, which may require parents to pick their child up by car at their late bus stop.
