SJK is committed to ensuring access to students of merit regardless of means.
The Financial Assistance Program offers partial funding to new and returning Domestic students.
Unfortunately, the Financial Assistance Program is not available to International students.
To qualify, interested students must excel in academics, embrace the School's programmes, mission and values, and clearly demonstrate financial need. Financial Assistance applicants must complete an independent financial assessment through Apple Financial Services. Recommendations by Apple Financial Services are not a guarantee of Financial Assistance.
Please note: Assessments are required on an annual basis for returning families. New students must apply for admission and be accepted prior to submitting an application for Financial Assistance.
Students receiving Financial Assistance are expected to abide by all school policies and families agree to pay the costs related to fees and additional expenses less the value of the Financial Assistance awarded.
Financial Assistance Application
» Apple Financial Services Application
We are currently accepting applications for Financial Assistance for the 2018-2019 academic year. For new families, Financial Assistance will be distributed on a rolling basis to qualified applicants until all available funds have been distributed. Returning student awards will be prioritized: new student awards will be distributed thereafter. We recommend that all families who require Financial Assistance apply as early as possible to avoid disappointment, as funds are limited. We are currently accepting applications at www.applefinancialservices.ca. There is no deadline for new family applications.
For returning families only, please note that December 11, 2017 is the Financial Assistance application deadline.
The Walter Langford Bursary
The Walter Langford Bursary will be presented annually to a deserving new or returning student, entering Grades 7-12, who demonstrates the following:
- Demonstrated leadership in community service, athletics, the arts, leadership or a combination of these;
- Academic excellence;
- Financial need.
No separate application is required in order to be eligible to receive this award. The School will base our assessment on the results of the application for admission, including report cards and teacher feedback, as well as a separate application to Apple Financial Services. For returning students, we will consider report cards and feedback from faculty and staff. All students who apply for financial assistance through Apple Financial Services will be automatically assessed for eligibility. The most outstanding candidate who meets the above criteria will be selected.
The award will be a one-time, non-renewable, non-transferable award. One award may be made to a deserving student each year. It is possible that the same student could receive the award multiple years in a row.
As there is no separate application required, we will not publicly advertise the recipient of this award - we will simply assess all new applicants who apply through the regular application channels, which are described on our website. The School will assess returning students suitability on a case by case basis.
