  • An Update from SJK's Nepali Friends

    It has been a couple of months since our first update on our friends in Nepal during this challenging time. Happily, we can report that they, along with their family members, are safe and well. The lockdown continues to be extended, though there has been some easing of restrictions for businesses. Our friends are remaining home both in Kathmandu and the villages of Sermathang, Thakani and Sarvodaya.

  • Celebrating Black History and African Heritage

    Each February, we gather as a community for a special whole-school assembly in recognition of Black History Month and to celebrate African heritage. In years past, we have enjoyed guest speakers and performances that have captivated our students and faculty members alike while imparting important knowledge and history lessons.

  • SJK Lower School presents: Peter Pan

    SJK Lower School
    At the beginning of the 2019-20 academic year, the Lower School embarked upon a great adventure of arts and expression as we made preparations for this year’s Lower School musical, Peter Pan. From auditions and set design to singing and choreography, we came together with a common goal: to make this year’s performance a memorable one.

    This year, our Closing Ceremonies were held virtually, which was a first for SJK in the school's history. We were delighted to celebrate the accomplishments of our students and acknowledge their growth and achievements over the year.   • Grade 8s Take Action with Microfinance

    Terry McDonald
    Grade 8s annually compete to select projects to be funded through Kiva.org, an online, microfinance nonprofit organization. The process begins by writing a persuasive essay for Canadian & World Studies and Language & Literature classes, detailing the type of project, the country and group of people that will be assisted with a microfinance loan.

    Reflections: SJK Lifers from the Class of 2020

    A ‘lifer’ is the term given to a student who has been at SJK from Kindergarten to Grade 12. At graduation, lifers don the title with a certain sense of pride and accomplishment, and are honoured for their commitment and contributions to the school. 
    Those who have taught lifers look on with nostalgia, having been part of their educational journey from beginning to end.
