Member of Brock House

Mrs. Julie George grew up as the oldest of four children on a dairy farm near Stratford, Ontario. She knew at a very young age that she wanted to become a teacher. She holds an honours bachelor's degree from the University of Waterloo and a bachelor's degree in education from Queen's University. Mrs. George began teaching both math and computer science at SJK in 2002, but now focuses on computer science and design. She has toured Europe along with Canada.

Mrs. George was first attracted to the sense of community at SJK and it remains her favourite thing about teaching at SJK. For her, it is wonderful to connect with students in and beyond the classroom, catch up with alumni on Facebook, and work with some of her dearest friends.

Mrs. George believes that teaching students how to learn and to apply knowledge through project-based activities and problem-solving opportunities will prepare them well to face an ever-changing world. She enjoys the one-on-one time that allows her to get to know the students along with the opportunity students have to explore the different sides of themselves outside the classroom. Furthermore, she likes how passionate every teacher is about the subjects they teach and their genuine interactions with students.

Mrs. George and her husband, an IT consultant, live in Waterloo with their two children. She is passionate about teaching, reading, travelling, learning to play the guitar and creating and documenting memories for her children.
