Ms. Carey Gallagher began her teaching career in September 1996 teaching Grade 2 at the Delia School of Canada in Hong Kong. Aside from teaching a culturally diverse student population, the highlights of this first chapter of her career included witnessing first-hand the handover of Hong Kong from Britain to China, and backpacking through many countries in southeast Asia and Africa. In September 1998, she moved back to Ontario to accept a job at the Marden Public School teaching Grade 4. Ms. Gallagher’s SJK adventure began in September 2000.  Since her arrival she has held a number of teaching, curriculum development, coaching, and administrative roles.

The natural campus is what first drew Ms. Gallagher to SJK. After growing up on a lake in northern Ontario, the outdoors has always been where she is most comfortable. She immediately felt a tremendous connection with the pond and surrounding SJK property. However, it has been the close knit community and dynamic, student-centred approach to teaching and learning that has kept her here. Ms. Gallagher now lives in the village of Maryhill with her husband Scott, sons Ian and Cale, and fox red lab Ross.
