Mrs. Julie George

B.Math (University of Waterloo), B.Ed. (Queen's University)
Member of Brock House

Mrs. Julie George grew up as the oldest of four children on a dairy farm near Stratford, Ontario. She knew at a very young age that she wanted to become a teacher. She holds an Honours Bachelor's Degree from the University of Waterloo and a Bachelor of Education from Queen's University. Mrs. George began teaching both Math and Computer Science at SJK in 2002, but later focused on Computer Science and Design. In 2024, Mrs. George transitioned to the Administration Team, becoming the Associate Director, Student & Community Life.

Mrs. George was first attracted to the sense of community at SJK and it remains her favourite thing about teaching at SJK. For her, it is wonderful to connect with students in and beyond the classroom, catch up with alumni at events or on social media, and work in partnership with SJK families. Mrs. George is also grateful to work alongside colleagues who are dear friends: their passion for teaching and genuine care have had a significant impact on so many students, both of her own children included.

Mrs. George believes that some of life's most meaningful learning happens through experience. She loves creating opportunities for students to step beyond the classroom, discover new perspectives, and grow in confidence through authentic challenges. This philosophy is not only central to the general IB Programme, but is also at the heart of the Five Worlds and student leadership programs she coordinates.

Outside of school, she is an avid reader and lifelong learner who enjoys listening to podcasts, discussing great books, practising yoga, and creating lasting memories with her family.
