B.A. Hons. (Wilfrid Laurier University), M.A. (University of Western Ontario), B.Ed. (Wilfrid Laurier University)
Ms. Henderson first came to SJK as a supply teacher in 2022 and joined the faculty in 2026.
Ms. Henderson began her career as an academic, spending several years working with medieval manuscripts in rare book libraries across the UK, the United States, and Canada. She pursued doctoral studies at the University of Toronto, researching Middle English medical verse, and achieved ABD (All But Dissertation) status before transitioning to teaching at the secondary school level. During her time in higher education, she designed and taught a wide range of undergraduate English courses, from first-year classes in effective writing and literary criticism to upper-year seminars on Shakespeare and Chaucer. Ms. Henderson is passionate about her work with students, which helped her recognize that teaching was where she wanted to focus her career. Her teaching has been described as “innovative and flexible,” providing her students with the “multiple forms of literacy required to navigate the 21st century.” She is delighted to bring her background and expertise to the SJK Community.
Outside of school, Ms. Henderson enjoys travelling and coaches Highland Dance.
