Dr. Glynis Perrett

MYP and DP Teacher
B.Sc (University of Guelph), PhD (University of Guelph), B.Ed. (OCT Certified) (Queen's University)
Member of Brock House

Dr. Glynis Perrett teaches MYP math and DP physics. She is originally from Fergus, Ontario and was once herself an SJK student, attending SJK from Grades 1-8.

Prior to teaching at SJK, Dr. Perrett completed both her BSc and PhD at the University of Guelph. Through her PhD research, she participated on the science teams of NASA's Mars Science Laboratory and Mars Exploration Rover missions. After her PhD, Dr. Perrett completed a two year post doc at Cornell University in NY, USA, where she continued as a science team member on NASA's rover missions as well as researched the geochemistry of the planet Mars. She then taught first year astronomy for a semester at Wilfrid Laurier University. It was during this time that Dr. Perrett realized her true passion lay in teaching, particularly high school students. She left academia, completed her B.Ed. and is happy to be back at SJK...this time as a teacher!

Dr. Perrett strongly believes that STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) education is for everyone and that all students can be successful in these subjects. She aims to inspire students to become critical thinkers and life-long learners by sharing her enthusiasm, passion, and amazement for the universe of which we are a part.

Dr. Perrett’s favourite elements of SJK are the community and campus. She cites the campus as a special place to grow up and create memories and is grateful to be a member of the Science and Math Departments.
