For international families who pursue high quality education for their daughters and sons at one of the leading independent schools in Canada, Joan plays multiple roles to support them to navigate through their life-transformational journey. Joan takes pride in her responsibilities at SJK, including the recruitment of international students, relationship management with stakeholders in the international students affairs, and communication and marketing to advocate for SJK as the premium destination for international students. Collaborating with the Director of Enrolment, Joan provides admission consultation to prospective international students and parents to understand their expectations and perspectives; to advise them to overcome the language and conceptual barriers to truly appreciate the values of a Canadian experience, and the advantages of an “SJK Education''; and to guide them through the admission process. Joan also facilitates the communication between international student families and respective SJK faculty & staff to provide support proactively or as needed. 

Prior to joining SJK, Joan was a parent and later the Director of International Student Programs at Elmwood School in Ottawa. Joan holds a Bachelor of Economics from Zhejiang University in Hangzhou, China, as well as an MBA from Queen’s University, Kingston, Ontario, Canada. Joan is fluently bilingual in English and Mandarin.
