Ms. Hughes is an experienced International Baccalaureate (IB) educator who brings more than a decade of teaching expertise to the Primary Years Programme at SJK. Before joining the School, she taught at an IB school in Mississauga, where she developed a passion for fostering inquiry-based learning environments that encourage students to explore, question, and discover knowledge for themselves. Her commitment to education is grounded in creating a supportive and engaging atmosphere that empowers students to become active, compassionate, and lifelong learners.

She was drawn to SJK by the School’s strong dedication to nurturing well-rounded individuals who are not only academically capable but also socially, emotionally, and globally aware. Ms. Hughes is proud to contribute to this mission and to be part of such a dynamic and innovative community.

Outside of the classroom, Ms. Hughes enjoys reading, spending time with her pet bunny, and exploring new cultures through travel—all of which inspire her teaching and help her connect with the world around her.
