A Court Built by Community: Celebrating the New OmniCourt at SJK

The SJK OmniCourt, a versatile, state-of-the-art athletic surface, was completed in the summer of 2025—fully funded through the generosity of our community. This dynamic outdoor space supports a wide range of sports and recreational activities for students of all ages and abilities, including basketball, tennis, pickleball, hockey, skating, and free play.

More than just a place to play, the OmniCourt is where students build confidence, grow, and create lasting memories. It reflects our commitment to nurturing the whole student—mind, body, and spirit—by promoting well-being, connection, and healthy competition. This project marks a meaningful step forward in how we support student development beyond the classroom.

Lisa Freeman, Athletics and Co-Curriculars Coordinator, Lower School, shared: “By creating alternative movement spaces, we give every child the chance to discover the joy of physical activity in their own way. This court could be the spark that inspires a student—who might not typically join in—to get moving, try something new, and build confidence.”

With heartfelt thanks, we acknowledge the parents, alumni, faculty, staff, and friends whose generosity made this vision a reality. Support came from many sources, including individual donors, and Roaring 20s Gala sponsors and auction participants. Special thanks to the Roaring 20s Gala Committee, whose efforts raised over $242,000 toward the project.

Together, our community has created a lasting impact on the SJK student experience.
Brock, a Grade 6 student, spoke at the ribbon cutting: “My friends and I are really excited to have a place where we can play all kinds of sports, all year round. And it’s not just about sports—it’s about teamwork, staying active, and having fun together. So, on behalf of all the students, thank you!”
