    Donate In Honour
    Graduation, birthday, Christmas and other special occasions where gifts are exchanged are a great time to honour a student, a family member, or to recognize one of SJK’s faculty, staff or board members.

    Donate in Memory
    To remember a loved one who has passed, a gift may be made in their name. 

    Estate Planning & Legacy Giving
    Remembering SJK in your will is a thoughtful way of making an extraordinary legacy gift.

  • Stocks and Securities

    Stock Options 
    Donors receive a charitable tax receipt for the fair market value of the stock donated, eliminating the tax liability related to exercising the options, and the employee benefit taxes. To do so, donate stock options within the 30-day period after you have exercised them while staying within the same calendar year.

    Securities Transfers
    These include stocks, mutual funds, segregated funds, bonds, flow-through shares, and employee stock options. You can donate now, or through your estate and will planning. Consult your financial advisor to decide how you would like to donate and have the most impact. Ask your broker to transfer your securities to SJK by completing the transfer form.

    Let us know that you’ve made your gift. We will provide a receipt for income tax purposes and acknowledge your gift to the SJK community, with your consent.

    Physical Share Certificates Transfer
    Shares may be donated to SJK. A Letter of Authorization Form is to be signed, witnessed and guaranteed by a Chartered Bank.

  • Endowment Funds

    When a donation is directed to establish an endowment, it creates a charitable investment that supports the school with the annual income that it generates. Through annual reinvestment of a portion of the income, an endowment fund becomes a permanent legacy, providing annual support to SJK.

    In recognition of your legacy gift, an endowment fund can be named in your honour, or it may honour a loved one. It can support the highest priority needs of the school or you may choose a specific area of need. 

    Contributions to an endowment fund can be made through a multi-year pledge, a one-time gift, a combined-donor/family/classmate gift or a bequest.

    To establish an endowment:
    Speak with your financial advisor about what works best for you.
    Contact SJK’s Director of Development who will work with you to determine where your gift will have a lasting impact. 

  • Gifts from Donors in the United States

    Friends of Independent Schools for Better Education, FRISBE, is a registered US charity, formed to assist Independent Schools in Canada, like SJK, to receive donations from alumni and friends now living in the United States. Since US citizens can generally receive an income tax deduction only when they donate to a registered US charity, FRISBE accepts the donation and facilitates its transfer to SJK.

    Grants are approved by the FRISBE Board in March and September each year.

Eagle’s Circle  ($1,000 - $4,999)
Head of School’s Circle  ($5,000 - $9,999)
Board of Governors’ Circle  ($10,000 - $24,999)
Founders’ Circle  ($25,000 - $49,999)
Golden Flame Circle  ($50,000 and up)
